FACE YOURSELF ART EXHIBITION

Magazine Layout & Publication Design

The "Face Yourself Art Exhibition" magazine project was designed to showcase the work of Arturo F., a celebrated sculpture artist known for his diverse and emotive creations. This publication was curated for the Metromoheim Museum and spanned several months, highlighting Arturo’s pieces that explore themes of identity and self-reflection through various mediums like bronze, plaster, and wood.

As the lead designer, I was tasked with creating a layout that mirrored the depth and diversity of the artworks, ensuring each piece communicated its unique story effectively. The project involved intricate typography decisions, thoughtful use of white space, and a balanced color palette that complemented the artworks. This magazine not only served as a guide through the exhibition but also as an artistic artifact itself, reflecting the essence of Arturo F.'s artistry.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Conceptualization

Drawing inspiration from the emotional depth and diversity of Arturo F.'s sculptures I aimed to reflect the themes of identity and self-reflection inherent in his work. Beginning with rough sketches that explored various layouts and typographies I focused on integrating elements that align with the qualities of the sculptures, using a dark color palette to showcase the art pieces and a bold sans serif font to stand out within the page.

Design Development

Developing the layouts further based on feedback, focusing on balancing the visual weight between text and imagery I can experiment with whitespace and compositional techniques to highlight the artwork effectively. Creating detailed mock-ups of the magazine, showing how each article and image will be placed is crucial for visualizing the final product and making necessary adjustments before finalization.

Finalization & Production

After presenting the final design to the client, and incorporating any last adjustments based on their feedback, I can ensure that the design meets all specified requirements and effectively tells the story of the exhibition. Preparing the design for printing includes ensuring all images are high-resolution, color correction is applied, and all text is proofread to ensure the quality and fidelity of the final product.
